The two-day annual day event organised by the Shri Balaji International School, Navi Mumbai, themed “Pangea,” was a spectacular celebration of unity, diversity, and the spirit of collaboration. The theme itself, inspired by the ancient supercontinent, symbolised the coming together of different cultures and backgrounds, much like the students and alumni of the school.
The Day 1 event kicked off with a heartfelt skit portraying students bidding farewell to each other, only to reunite after 15 years for a school reunion. This touching narrative set the stage for a journey through various cultures and experiences, as depicted through mesmerizing dance performances showcasing the vibrancy of America, Europe, and Africa. The inclusion of students’ talents in stand-up comedy and musical performances added a delightful touch of entertainment and creativity to the evening.
One notable aspect of the event was the portrayal of the diverse paths taken by the alumni, with the majority now leading successful lives abroad. However, the spotlight also shone on three IIT graduates who had chosen to stay in India, dedicating themselves to the nation’s development through the Atmanirbhar Bharat scheme. Their commitment to contributing to their homeland’s growth served as a poignant reminder of the importance of giving back to one’s roots.
As the cultural performances came to a close, the reunion skit was reprised, this time with a powerful message of unity and collective action towards building a self-reliant India. The alumni settled abroad expressed their desire to also play a part in the nation’s progress, showcasing a sense of solidarity and shared responsibility.
The grand finale of the event was a breathtaking choreographed performance, featuring students, teachers, and parents alike, which left the audience in awe.
The students brought the life of the Great Maratha Warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to the stage on the second day of the event, which coincided with the auspicious occasion of Shivaji Jayanti.
The SBIS annual day event had commenced with a traditional welcome dance, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the school’s chairperson Ashok Gupta, Principal R. Jujula and members of the Parent-Teacher Association. Senior Police Inspector Madhukar Bhate was the Guest of Honour.
The principal’s presentation of the annual day report highlighted the school’s achievements and the various events organized throughout the year, reflecting the institution’s commitment to holistic development and excellence in education.
The annual day event was not just a celebration of cultural diversity and talent but also a reflection of the school’s ethos of fostering global citizenship and social responsibility. It served as a poignant reminder that regardless of geographical boundaries, we are all interconnected members of a larger community, working together towards a brighter future.
