The upcoming Lok Sabha elections, anticipated to take place next year, have sparked varied speculations on the political landscape. Veteran Bollywood actor Nana Patekar, however, appears confident in his prediction of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) securing a triumphant victory for the third consecutive term. In an interview with Zee News, Patekar expressed his conviction, stating, “Just wait and watch how the BJP comes back to power in a big way. They have been doing great work, and there is no alternative.” The seasoned actor went on to suggest that he would not be surprised if the BJP managed to secure an impressive 375 to 400 seats in the upcoming elections.
Patekar, who had previously lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reiterated his support for the party, emphasising the BJP’s commendable efforts. He conveyed his admiration for Modi, recalling a personal meeting during Modi’s tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. Patekar had also endorsed the controversial demonetisation move by the BJP government in 2016, urging his fans and followers to support the initiative.
“Demonetisation is a worthy endeavour. Terrorism will suffer as a result of demonetisation,” Patekar had asserted. He urged the common people to endure the temporary inconveniences, emphasising the broader benefits of tackling black money and counterfeit currency in the parallel economy. Patekar acknowledged the minor difficulties faced by the public in the wake of demonetisation, highlighting the greater national impact.
With Lok Sabha elections expected to be scheduled between April and May, and the Code of Conduct potentially taking effect in February, the political atmosphere is gaining momentum. As of now, the Election Commission has not officially announced the dates for the Lok Sabha elections, keeping the nation in anticipation of the unfolding political drama.
In his support for the BJP and Prime Minister Modi, Nana Patekar’s confident predictions add to the ongoing discourse surrounding the upcoming elections, where the nation awaits the verdict that will shape its political landscape.
