South heartthrob Jr NTR has been inducted into the Actor’s Branch of Academy Awards alongside the likes of Everything Everywhere All at Once fame Ke Huy Quan and The Banshees of Inisherin’s Kerry Condon. The official announcement was made via Instagram on Wednesday, October 18. The Academy shared their list hailing all the actors as “gifted performers.” Jr NTR’s inclusion came after the massive success of his movie RRR, co-starring Ram Charan and directed by SS Rajamouli. “In the capable hands of these dedicated and gifted performers, stories transcend the confines of imagination, taking on a tangible, visceral existence that captivates viewers around the world,” wrote the Academy.
They added, “Through their nuanced expressions, compelling gestures, and authentic portrayals, they bridge the gap between fiction and reality, allowing us to see ourselves in the struggles, joys, and triumphs of the characters they bring to life. The Academy is thrilled to welcome Ke Huy Quan, Marsha Stephanie Blake, Kerry Condon, N.T. Rama Rao Jr., and Rosa Salazar to the Actors Branch.”

It was in the month of June when the news of RRR actors Jr NTR and Ram Charan receiving invitations to join the academy spread like wildfire on social media. They were among the 398 people selected to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Director Karan Johar, composer and songwriter MM Keeravani and Chandrabose, RRR’s film production designer Sabu Cyril, and cinematographer, KK Senthil Kumar, were also invited to the group that awards the Oscars.
The invitations at the time were also extended to Pop singer Taylor Swift to join the music branch for creating the soundtrack of Where the Crawdads Sing and the film adaptation of the musical Cats. Elvis star Austin Butler also made it to the list for his portrayal of musician Elvis Presley.
