Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan has become one of the biggest blockbusters of all time. While fans are enjoying the Atlee directorial, they are also eagerly waiting for King Khan’s next movie – Dunki. However, amid the buzz that Dunki might get postponed, Shah Rukh Khan has now clarified that the Rajkumar Hirani directorial will be released around Christmas only this year.
“God has been very kind we have had Pathaan. God has been even kinder with Jawan and I always say this. We started on January 26, Republic Day (with Pathaan), it’s a good auspicious day. On Janmashtami, on Krishnajis birthday we released this film (Jawan),” he said at the Jawan’s success press conference in Mumbai on Friday, Septeber 15.
“Now New Year and Christmas are around the corner, we will release Dunki. I keep National integration. Anyway, when my film is released, it is Eid. I’m working hard, I’m working harder than I worked in the last 29 years. I will keep working hard because now I’m the happiest when people get happy after watching the film,” the actor added.
Besides Shah Rukh Khan, Dunki also stars Taapsee Pannu in the lead. As reported by ANI, the film will also feature Dharmendra in key roles. Vicky Kaushal will also make a special appearance in the movie.
Earlier this year, SRK talked about Dunki during the Red Sea Festival and called it a ‘big journey film’. “In English it would be called ‘Donkey’ but the way a part of the country pronounces donkey in India–the Punjabis– it is ‘dunki’. It is a film directed by one of the most brilliant filmmakers we have in the country, Rajkumar Hirani. It is written by a fantastic writer, Abhijat Joshi,” he said.
“It is a story of people who want to come back home when you finally get the calling. His films are always a mix of comedy and a lot of emotions, about the country. It is a big journey film, it goes through different areas around the world and finally comes back home, to India,” he added.
Dunki will be Shah Rukh Khan’s third movie of 2023 after Pathaan and Jawan.
