It is quite well-known that Bollywood star Ayushmann Khurrana is a cricket fanatic. He is constantly taking to the microblogging site x, formerly known as Twitter, and commenting during India’s matches. His predictions at this year’s World Cup earned him the title of cricket’s ‘Octopus Paul’ – a real-life octopus known for accurate predictions of outcome during World Cup football some years back – from people!
Ayushmann revealed on his social media handle that he will be heading to Ahmedabad on Sunday morning, November 18, to witness the epic World Cup final match between India and Australia. He dubbed this to as a ‘grudge’ match because India lost the finals of the World Cup to Australia in 2003. Since then, the two teams have never played against each other in the finals.
Taking to his Instagram story, Ayushmann wrote, “Going to see the India vs Australia World Cup finals at the spectacular Narendra Modi Stadium Ahmedabad with a lot of hope in my heart. I don’t think any Indian has forgotten 2003. So, this is a grudge match… Come on India let’s bring it home again boys!”
Ayushmann also revealed that he will be wearing a jersey for the match with the number 5 and “Ayush” printed on the back. Several Bollywood celebrities are expected to fly to Ahmedabad to witness the match. Anushka Sharma reached Ahmedabad this morning with daughter Vamika to support Virat Kohli in this historic match.
The semi-final match between India and New Zealand also witnessed many actors visiting Wankhede Stadium. This included Rajinikanth, Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kushal, John Abraham, Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani among others. David Beckham, who was in India for a UNICEF commitment, also attended the match and was photographed sitting near Kiara.
Anushka had also come to see Virat play during the semi-finals and their adorable moments went viral online.
