Ever since its release, Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal has become the talk of the town. Now, actor KP Singh, who played Ranbir Kapoor’s cousin in the film has revealed how the director Sandeep Reddy Vanga would abuse those who would laugh on sets in between shoot. The actor was speaking to YouTuber Vanshaj Saxena when he mentioned that the film was no less than a “baby” for Vanga.
“Scene ke time pe mazak nahi karte the bilkul bhi. Koi door se bhi hasta hua nazar aa gaya toh unko gaali padti thi. (While shooting a scene he would not be making jokes and all. If he even spotted anyone laughing, he would get abused),” Singh said.
“Daant toh dete the yaar. Daanta bhi acha lagta hai. Tum daant kha rahe ho toh matlab kuch seekh rahe ho (He would scold. Scolding is nice because if you are getting scolded, it means you are learning something),” the actor added.
KP Singh argued that even though Vanga does not like jokes on sets, he is a lot of fun to hang out with once he wasn’t shooting. “He looks serious but he really isn’t. He is quite serious on shoot. He doesn’t like jokes then. Otherwise he would be quite jovial around us,” he shared.
Released on December 1, Animal revolves around a man and his toxic relationship with his father. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film shows Vijay (played by Ranbir) as an anti-hero who would go to any lengths to protect his father. However, despite his efforts, he struggles to get a seal of approval from his emotionally unavailable father (played by Anil Kapoor). His unhealthy relationship with his father impacts his relationship with his wife (played by Rashmika Mandanna).
Animal has also been accused of glorifying misogyny and toxic masculinity by several social media users. However, despite everything, Animal is going immensely well at the box office. It is inching close to the Rs 500 crore mark at the Indian box office.
