Bollywood actor Vijay Varma had to apologise to fans after he shared a rather ‘deadly’ post. On the occasion of Darlings’ second anniversary, Vijay shared an obituary post featuring the news of his character in the film. The obituary, which was also a part of the Netflix film, led to fans to believe that Vijay Varma had passed away. As soon as they learnt the reality of the post, they took to the comments section to admit the post shook them for a minute.
The post featured the news of Vijay’s character Hamza Abdul Shaikh’s death. “RIP” featured underneath a picture of Vijay that truly scared fans. The post also featured the words, “Sads Demise. Hamza Abdul Shaikh, loving husband, beloved son-in-law (sic).” Sharing the post, Vijay wrote, “It’s been two years since your beloved hamza left for jannat ki sair. Miss u Hamza darlings♥️… not. 2 years of #Darlings.”
Fans took to the comments section and confessed the post left them in shock. “Scared me for a sec,” a fan admitted. “Advertise karne ka tareeka thoda death full hai,” added another. “Gave me a sudden mini heart attack ,” a third comment read.
Vijay apologised to fans in the comments section. “Sorry guys didn’t mean to scare u. This is an actual screen grab from the film! Dark comedy banay thi toh post bhi.. ,” he wrote.
Darlings featured Vijay Varma, Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah and Roshan Mathew. The film skipped the theatres and directly released on OTT. It was streamed on Netflix and was a massive success. The film won several awards, including the Best Film at the News18 Showsha Reel Awards. The film is helmed by debutante director Jasmeet K Reen and co-produced by Alia Bhatt, Shaheen Bhatt’s Eternal Sunshine Productions and Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. The film also marked Alia and Shaheen’s debut as producers.
