Mahesh Pandey, a prominent scriptwriter in Indian television, has been detained by Mumbai police on charges of defrauding a film producer of Rs 2.65 crore. Mahesh Pandey, widely recognised for his work on the hit TV show Kasautii Zindagi Kay, is now at the centre of a legal scandal that has caused a stir in the entertainment world. Reports indicate that he was arrested after Jatin Sethi, a film producer, filed a complaint against him. Sethi claimed that Pandey breached the terms of a contract between their companies, resulting in a financial loss of Rs 2.65 crore. Following this complaint, the Mumbai police initiated a case of fraud and detained Pandey on Wednesday.
The complaint details that Pandey’s company was supposed to pay Sethi Rs 2.65 crore according to their agreement, but he allegedly failed to do so. This breach has led to a significant legal dispute, with Pandey now facing severe accusations of financial misconduct. Sethi alleges that Pandey gave multiple excuses for the delay and even went as far as creating a fake email account. This fake account was reportedly used to forge communications with a broadcaster, falsely claiming that the payment was in progress but delayed due to unexpected issues.
After the complaint was filed, the Mumbai police acted promptly, arresting Mahesh Pandey and presenting him in court. He was then placed in judicial custody. Pandey has produced and directed several Bhojpuri films, including Gabbar Singh. This film, produced by Ekta Kapoor, is a Bhojpuri remake of the classic Sholay.
