The main controversy of the show happened when Cooku with Comali anchor, Manimegalai announced her exit mid-show. Manimegalai explained her sudden exit by stating that this season was completely dominated by another female anchor, especially in the anchors part, who was actually supposed to be a cook on the show. She said, that the contestant often forgot that she was supposed to cook and deliberately interrupted a lot in anchor portions by not letting her do the job.
According to reports, Priyanka Deshpande is receiving a whopping amount of Rs 18,000 per episode for Cooku with Comali Season 5. She is one of the highest-paid contestants.
