Prakash Raj, celebrated for his versatility and commanding presence on screen, is set to present the Kannada film Photo, shedding light on the struggles faced by migrant workers during the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuing lockdown.
Undoubtedly one of the industry’s finest actors, Prakash Raj recently revealed his decision to support this critically acclaimed Kannada release. Taking to his official Twitter handle, the actor shared his pride in presenting Photo by a talented young team. The film depicts the poignant journey of a father and son, compelled to traverse the roads on their way back home from Bengaluru city. Photo has already garnered attention at several prestigious film festivals, including the Bengaluru International Film Festival, where it was honoured as the second-best Kannada film and received accolades from critics. Additionally, it was showcased at the FTII (Film and Television Institute of India) in Pune, the Habitat Film Festival in Delhi, and the NITTE International Film Festival in Mangalore.
Directed by Utsav Gonwar, marking his directorial debut, Photo features a talented cast including Mahadev Hadapad, Sandhya Arakere, Jahangeer, and Veeresh Gonwar. The film is produced by Utsav Gonwar and Fakirappa Bandiwad under the banner of Masari Talkies. Rai Hiremath handles the film’s music, with Dinesh Divakaran as the cinematographer and Shivaraj Mehu as the editor. Reportedly, the makers are gearing up for an official release in March this year.
Utsav Gonwar’s directorial prowess was acknowledged with the Best Director award at the Bengaluru Bengal Kannada Film Festival, hosted by the Satyajit Ray Film Society, further cementing the anticipation surrounding Photo.
