Popular Bangladeshi folk singer Rahul Ananda, who is a resident of Dhaka, was recently vandalised, looted, and burned as attacks on Hindu minorities continued amid violent student protests in the country. According to reports, the singer, who is also a cultural activist, along with his wife and teenage son fled the attack.
The video of his house is going viral on social media. On Tuesday, attackers attacked the house of Ananda. His 140-year-old house was also robbed. Not only this but after the vandalism, the singer’s entire house was set on fire.
But Rahul Ananda’s family did not suffer any injury or loss of life in this attack. He left this house after realising that the mob might attack it. Seeing the surrounding environment, he eft the house with his wife and child. The mob attacked their 140-year-old house, stole things and then set the house on fire.
It has been revealed that Rahul Ananda’s house was set on fire, and many valuable items, along with 3000 musical instruments in his house, were burned. Meanwhile, the video of the house has been shared on the Twitter page Gareeboo. “This is the house of Bangladeshi musician Rahul Ananda! An Islamic terrorist burned down the whole house. He has so many musical instruments, but LKFC will tell you that there is no terror against Hindus in Bangladesh,” reads the caption. Take a look at the video:

Reports suggest the 140-year-old house of singer Rahul Ananda was one of the stops on French President Emmanuel Macron’s Bangladesh itinerary when he visited Dhaka in September 2023.
Rahul Ananda has been associated with music for many years. He was born on March 7, 1976, in Sylhet, East Bangladesh. Currently, he resides in Dhanmondi, Dhaka. He holds a Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Dhaka University. Apart from being a musician, he is also a visual artist.
Ananda has participated in eight residency programmes as a visual artist, musician, and actor in the UK, Japan, India, Egypt, and Brazil. Formed in 2006, he performs in all corners of the country and the world through the Dhaka-based folk band Joler Gaan.
