Ever since it was announced that director Vijayaprasad will once again collaborate with Loose Mada Yogi for a sequel to their hit film Sidlingu, the duo has been flooded with messages asking them to keep the film clean. Vijayaprasad has built an image with films like Neer Dose, Petromax and Thothapuri that adult humour with double-meaning jokes is his forte. But for Sidlingu 2, the filmmaker and Yogi promise that the film will not have any such comedy and will be a clean family entertainer. Actress Sonu Gowda revealed some important details of the film in her exclusive interview with News-18 Kannada.
”Sidlingu was released in 2012 when Loose Mada Yogi and Ramya collaborated to give a new kind of experience to the audience. In the end, Ramya dies and leaves the viewers in tears. But perhaps nobody had an idea that this film would have a second part,” Sonu Gowda said.
Sonu Gowda will be playing the female lead in Sidlingu 2. The story of this film is a continuation of teacher Ramya in the first part. But Sonu Gowda is playing a different role here. There is no connection between Ramya’s character and Sonu Gowda’s character in the second part.
“The story is different, the flow is different in Sidlingu 2. Especially in this film, I’m playing along with the lead actor Loose Mada Yogi for the first time. This is an opportunity to work together,” she added.
Sonu Gowda has completed the first phase of the film. The shooting of the second phase of the film is scheduled for April 15. The shooting is scheduled in different locations like Mysore, Bangalore and Sakaleshpur. It can also be said that during the break in the shooting, Sonu Gowda visited Raya in Mantralaya along with her family.
At the official launch of the film, Yogi said that he is thankful to producer Hari of Niharika Movies for putting faith in the duo at a time when both of them had no guaranteed market for the film and were ready to back it.
Sidlingu 2 comes 12 years after the original and is a sequel in terms of the storyline, with a handful of characters from the first film reprising their roles here too. “Sometimes when films are split into different parts or made in instalments, there can be a disconnect between them, but here it is an organic evolution,” he said.
