Nawazuddin Siddiqui also shared that despite not being friends, he wishes Anurag Kashyap well.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui had a tough journey to Bollywood fame due to his exceptional acting skills. He recently spoke about how Anurag Kashyap introduced him to the industry, though they are not friends. In an earlier interview, Anurag Kashyap mentioned how Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Taapsee Pannu supported him during his depression. Siddiqui also shared that despite not being friends, he wishes Kashyap well.

In an interview with the Indian Express, Nawazuddin Siddiqui said that he and Anurag Kashyap are not close friends. He mentioned, “Anurag and I are not even friends, frankly speaking. If we sit together we might not even talk to each other for hours. We are like that. We have flown together, travelled together for 5-6 hours without saying a word.”

He said they don’t interact much, usually just asking for matchsticks or suggesting food or drinks. Despite not being close friends, Nawazuddin cares deeply for Anurag. He wishes Anurag good health and success in filmmaking, even if they don’t collaborate again, and hopes Anurag never faces any problems. “Kabhi koi aanch nahi aani chaahiye Anurag ko bass (Anurag should never have any problems),” said Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui remembered feeling hurt and awkward when fashion designers refused to make him a suit because of his looks, just before Gangs of Wasseypur was released. He thanked Anurag Kashyap deeply for opening doors to new opportunities and international recognition. As audiences began to appreciate his work more, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s career flourished, which he largely credits to Kashyap. He stressed how important Kashyap has been in his career, highlighting their collaborative films, many of which were showcased at Cannes, and their significant impact.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui rose to fame as one of the most in-demand actors in Bollywood. He took on various odd jobs to make ends meet, while pursuing his acting aspirations. From working as a watchman to selling coriander, he persevered for over a decade. Despite landing small roles in a few successful films, it was his remarkable performance in Gangs of Wasseypur that propelled him to stardom.
