Mouni Roy’s undeniable acting talent helped her transition seamlessly between television and the big screen. The actress became a household name after her appearance in Ekta Kapoor’s TV show ‘Naagin’. Later, she also bagged projects alongside stars like Akshay Kumar, Rajkummar Rao, and Ranbir Kapoor. Recently, Mouni sat down for an interview with a media portal. In the conversation, she revealed taking 30 pills a day and injections sometimes before signing her breakthrough show, Naagin.
While speaking candidly to Mashable India, Mouni recalled the hardest phase of her life in terms of physical health. Revisiting the time, The Showtime actress revealed, “Before Naagin began, I was in a phase where I thought my life was over. It’s not that grim, grave, or sad. I was just severely unwell. I finished Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 9 and I had L4-L5 complete slipped degeneration and scoliosis on my spine, and couldn’t stand straight.”
The Gold actress further shared that she was bedridden for three months at the time she was offered Naagin. Mouni continued, “I had put on, I don’t know how many kgs. It wasn’t in a good way because I was on some 30 pills a day and injections sometimes. I had an epidural in my spine. It was a very very bad time. I was bedridden for about 3 months and this is when I got a call for Naagin.”
In the same conversation, Mouni also expressed gratitude to Ekta Kapoor for offering her Naagin. She noted that the fiction drama was initially planned to be a limited series with a duration of three months. Given the response, the makers went on to extend its length by seven months. Notably, the first season of Naagin aired from 2015 to 2016. It featured Mouni and Arjun Bijlani in the lead role.
As for Mouni, she was last seen in the web series Showtime. The Disney Plus Hotstar series featured Emraan Hashmi, Naseeruddin Shah, Mahima Makwana, Mouni Roy, Rajeev Khandelwal, and Shriya Saran in pivotal roles.
