'Those Who Tried To Do Character Assassination...': Swati Maliwal's First Reaction in Assault Case
Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal made a "special request" to the BJP, asking them not to politicise the incident as an "important election is going on in the country"

Three days after she made the allegations of assault against a close aide of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on Thursday gave her first reaction following her formal complaint to the Delhi Police. She said may God keep those people happy who attacked her character over the incident and questioned her political allegiance. She made a “special request” to the BJP, asking them not to politicise the incident as an “important election is going on in the country”.

Maliwal, who submitted a formal complaint to the Delhi Police only hours ago, posted her reaction on X. She said what happened to her was “very bad”, and that the last few days have been “difficult” for her.

“What happened to me was very bad. I have given my statement to the police on the incident that happened to me. I hope that appropriate action will be taken. The last few days have been very difficult for me. I thank those who prayed for me. Those who tried to do character assassination, said that she was doing it on the instructions of the other party, may God keep them happy too. An important election is going on in the country, Swati Maliwal is not important, the issues of the country are important. There is a special request to BJP people to not do politics on this incident,” she said in Hindi in a post on X.

The former DCW chairperson has accused Bibhav Kumar, Kejriwal’s personal staff member, of misbehaviour and assault. Her statement was recorded by a two-member team of the Delhi Police at her residence.

Led by additional commissioner of police PS Kushwaha, the team went to her house around 1.50 pm to seek details of the incident, officials said. Kushwaha was accompanied by a woman police officer, they added.

According to the police, Maliwal told them about the incident that took place at the CM’s residence on May 13. With her statement recorded, an FIR might be registered in connection with the matter, the police added.

Sources said she submitted two-and-a-half pages, elaborating on the sequence of events that took place.
