Kartik Aaryan Opens Up on Luv Ranjan Casting Ranbir Kapoor in TJMM: 'I'm Extremely Possessive...'
Kartik Aaryan made his acting debut with Luv Ranjan’s 2011 film Pyaar Ka Punchnama. They went on to work together in multiple films.

Kartik Aaryan started his acting career with Luv Ranjan’s 2011 film Pyaar Ka Punchnama, and went on to star in the director’s other films such as Akaash Vani (2013) and Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 (2015). Kartik recently opened up about not being cast in Luv’s film Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar (2023), which starred Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor.

Kartik, who had a cameo in the film, revealed that Luv informed him about casting Ranbir in the lead role. In a recent interview with Lallantop, Kartik said, “Luv Ranjan informed me about the film. I think he had his own reasons to not cast me and it’s not necessary that all directors will make films with the same actor. And I am sure whenever we collaborate again, we will have fun. We are extremely comfortable with each other. I feel we never really had our relationship affected by this. However, I am extremely possessive about my team.”

Last year, in an exclusive interaction with News18 Showsha, Kartik spoke about the possibility of doing Pyaar Ka Punchnama 3 with Luv. “He’s busy with the post-production work of his next film (Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar). So, there’s no update on a collaboration right now. He has to take a call but I’m always ready for him to call me for a film. He launched me and he has a special place in my heart. I’m waiting for him to offer me a film,” the actor said.

Talking about the impact the film had on his career, Kartik said, “Pyaar Ka Punchnama has received a cult status. People ask me about my monologues in the films all the time wherever I go. It has been years since the films released but they’ve attached the monologues with me and it makes me feel so happy and grateful.” He further adds, “It takes years for an actor to have that one iconic dialogue associated with them but I received that really early on in my career. The monologues were one-of-its-kind. I feel lucky that I got to prove myself with these two films and those lines.”
