Alia Bhatt has been on a roll with back to back commercial as well as critical success. From Gangubai Kathiawad to Darlings, Brahmastra to Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, the actress has also managed to create a space for herself amid the international audience with ‘Heart Of Stone’. The actress who is also enjoying motherhood with her daughter Raha had recently wrapped one of the most awaited films titled Jigra with Vedang Raina. As the wait for the same is building up, Alia Bhatt shared a fresh poster of the film, which looks intense and promising.
On Thursday, Alia Bhatt took to her Instagram handle and unveiled a new poster, which showed a silhouette of a person with a backpack standing in front of a fence, with the title ‘Jigra’ vertically placed on the left side. In the background, a larger profile of another character is visible, set against a moody, intense backdrop with shades of blue and orange. The caption of the post includes the quote, “Tu mere protection mein hai.” The Vasan Bala directorial is set to release in cinemas on October 11.
Take a look:
Last year, Alia Bhatt talked about Jigra and opened up about its plot. She had revealed that the film is a story of ‘courage, passion and determination’. “Just a little over a year later, we are ready to launch our second production – Jigra, a beautiful story of courage, passion and determination. I hope to consistently support compelling narratives that are authentic, and enduringly timeless and work with brilliant creative minds to bring them alive,” Alia added.
It was also recently revealed that the actress had to learn basketball for the film. As reported by E-Times, Alia Bhatt has several scenes in Jigra in which she will be seen playing basketball and therefore, to make it look authentic, director Vasan Bala assigned a coach to her.
Reportedly, Alia underwent extensive basketball training for the film. A coach on the sets was assigned who not only taught her the rules of the game but also basic movements like dribble and double dribble. Besides this, Alia also learnt how to pass and how to dunk the ball in the basket. Besides Alia, Jigra will also star The Archies star Vedang Raina. He will be playing the role of Alia’s brother in the movie.
It should also be noted that Alia Bhatt is not just playing the lead in Jigra but is also producing it. Previously, in an interview with Film Companion, the actress opened up about venturing into production and shared that it is ‘exciting and overwhelming’ at the same time.
“I believe stories are everywhere, and stories are everything! I turned producer with Eternal Sunshine to tell some of these stories, ones that evoke emotions and leave an impact. Our first production, Darlings, got so much love that it was exciting and overwhelming at the same time,” she said.
