In a recent chat with Collider, Gough, alongside co-creator Miles Millar, revealed the details of Burton’s role in Wednesday Season 2. “He’s doing four. He’s doing half the season like he did in Season 1,” Gough said, referring to the legendary director of The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Fans of the show might know that Burton directed the first half of Season 1, while the latter half was shared between Gandja Monteiro and James Marshall.

Gough also highlighted Burton’s strong rapport with Jenna Ortega, saying that the director genuinely enjoys collaborating with the talented actress. Interestingly, Gough admitted he initially doubted Burton would return for another season, but was pleasantly surprised by the news.

Moreover, Gough emphasised Burton’s passion, saying that when he commits to a project, he does so wholeheartedly. He wanted to tell that story,” Gough added.

According to Collider, the cast and crew returned to the set in May, and everything has been progressing smoothly. However, viewers should expect a two-year gap between the last episode of Season 1 and the premiere of Season 2.
