Get ready to do the creepy dance once again because Wednesday is back and it looks like Tim Burton is too! Fans have loved Jenna Ortega’s standout role and Burton’s unique vision made the horror show a hit. But the big question is: after Beetlejuice, will he return? Al Gough, one of the show’s creators, has some exciting news regarding this issue. He reportedly confirmed that the renowned director will indeed direct several episodes of the upcoming season.

In a recent chat with Collider, Gough, alongside co-creator Miles Millar, revealed the details of Burton’s role in Wednesday Season 2. “He’s doing four. He’s doing half the season like he did in Season 1,” Gough said, referring to the legendary director of The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Gough also highlighted Burton’s strong rapport with Jenna Ortega, saying that the director genuinely enjoys collaborating with the talented actress. Interestingly, Gough admitted he initially doubted Burton would return for another season, but was pleasantly surprised by the news.

Moreover, Gough emphasised Burton’s passion, saying that when he commits to a project, he does so wholeheartedly. This dedication is likely a factor in the success of the Beetlejuice sequel at the box office. “He didn’t make it for any other reason than he wanted to make that movie. He wanted to tell that story,” Gough added.

During the interview, Gough also updated fans on the production status of Wednesday. He mentioned that filming for the new season is already midway, with Burton actively involved in his segments. According to Collider, the cast and crew returned to the set in May, and everything has been progressing smoothly. However, viewers should expect a two-year gap between the last episode of Season 1 and the premiere of Season 2.

Fans can look forward to a storyline brimming with more action and a touch of horror, as the new season will reportedly shift away from the romantic theme that characterised the first season.
