Popular television actress Asha Negi is back! This time, she is ditching her usual romantic and family-centric roles and is wearing the cap of a honeymoon photographer, Ambika Nath, in the upcoming JioCinema spine-chilling thriller series. The six-episode show, directed by Arjun Srivastava, also stars Sahil Salathia, Apeksha Porwal, Rajeev Siddhartha, and Rituraj Singh.
On Thursday, the makers of the web show dropped its trailer on their social media platforms with the caption, “Ek photographer, ek picture-perfect honeymoon aur ek deadly secret. Who’s the killer?” Honeymoon Photographer revolves around the story of a newlywed couple, Adhir Irani (Sahil Salathia) and Zoya Irani (Apeksha Porwal), on a trip to Maldives. Everything seems well until the groom is found dead and buried on a beach. Soon, his friends, family and spouse come under the radar of the police as the primary suspects in Adhir’s murder.
Ambika, who has no recollection of the night of Adhir’s murder with her date Rihen (Rajeev Siddhartha) missing, becomes the prime suspect in the crime. The investigation is led by cop Divya Sawant (Samvedna Suwalka), who is driven by her agenda. The trailer showcases each character’s layered personality, with subplots of betrayal, a thirst for hunger and power, and a complex web of lies.
While speaking with ANI, Negi shared her excitement about diverging from her usual role and moulding herself into a unique character. “In my career, I have essayed several roles, but a majority of them have been romantic and family-centric. I saw Honeymoon Photographer as a breath of fresh air since the premise of the show is very different from what you’d assume it to be from the title,” said the actress.
Sharing details about her character in Honeymoon Photographer, she added, “Ambika is a very layered character, and as you proceed, you really see her evolving. This character really kept me on my feet. The show has its own thrills, with an intense cat-and-mouse chase and each character trying to emerge victorious for their own reasons. It is an enthralling ride, and I really wish that the audience enjoys watching it as much as I loved being part of a story like this.”
Honeymoon Photographer, produced by Rishabh Seth’s Green Light Productions, will stream on JioCinema Premium from September 27 onwards. Meanwhile, Negi was last seen in the Amazon miniTV series Industry, co-starring Gagan Arora.
