There’s an exciting update for Indian K-pop fans as some high-profile South Korean music stars are set to perform here. The popular K-Wave Festival, this year, is bringing a thrilling lineup for Indian fans, as EXO frontman Suho and former Sistar member Hyolyn are making their debut performance in the country. The upcoming event, which was previously held in Bengaluru to celebrate Korean culture, will now be inaugurated in Mumbai on October 18.
Following that, it will return to Bengaluru on October 20. Suho is set to script history as it marks the first time an artist from SM Entertainment, one of the biggest names in K-pop, will perform in India.
Currently, the exact venues for the event have not been announced. For those looking forward to attend, tickets for the next phase will cost between Rs 2499 and Rs 4999.
Announcing Suho’s name, the Instagram page of K-Wave Festival page wrote, “SUHO, the leader of EXO, is a powerhouse in music and acting. After the success of his first solo Asia tour and his role in the historical drama ‘Missing Crown Prince’, SUHO will finally be in India to meet his fans and beloved EXOLs.”
For Hyolyn, the page informed, “Korean pop all-rounder singer/songwriter Hyolyn is widely known as the former leader of the top K-Pop girl group SISTAR. She has always maintained a strong presence on the Korean, Japanese and US charts since the 2010’s, and her career has been on the rise as a solo artist, with an expanded range of talent for performing in variety shows and competitive reality programs, as well as acting on television drama series.”
Interestingly, Suho’s upcoming performance at the 2024 K-Wave Festival won’t be his first trip to India. Years ago, the EXO leader visited the country while filming a reality show, Exciting India. During that trip, he was joined by fellow K-pop stars, including SHINee’s Minho, Changmin from TVXQ and Super Junior star Kyuhyun.
Suho, debuted as the EXO leader in 2012 and became a solo artist with his debut song, Self-Portrait, which was released on March 30, 2020. After completing his mandatory military service, Suho returned with his second solo album, Grey Suitt, in 2023. Recently, he released new set of albums, 1 to 3 in May.
