After the massive success of Gadar 2, Sunny Deol fans have been eagerly waiting for the sequel of his 1997 movie, Border. If a recent report is to be believed, the actor will begin shooting for the film in October this year. Reportedly, preparations for Border 2 are almost done and makers are now planning to begin shooting.
“The team behind Border 2 has been working tirelessly to prepare everything and it’s been a long time in the making as they wanted to do justice to the magnitude of the first film. Now, as the preparations are almost done, the team will begin shooting, as it stands now, the team will begin shooting in October,” a source cited by Pinkvilla claimed. However, there is no official confirmation regarding Border 2’s shooting schedule as of now.
Border 2 To Also Star Ayushmann Khurrana?
Border was released in 1997 and was widely loved by the audience. In the film, Sunny Deol played the role of Major Kuldip Singh Chanduri. Border 2 will not only mark Sunny Deol’s return in uniform but will also star Ayushmann Khurrana. He will reportedly be playing a prominent role in the Indian Armed Forces. The film will be directed by Anurag Singh.
What Did Sunny Deol Say About Border 2?
Recently, Sunny Deol also graced Ranveer Allahabadia’s podcast when he talked about Border 2 and said, “I’ve also heard that they’re making Border 2. We were meant to start it a lot earlier, in 2015. But then my films flopped, so people were scared to make it then. Now, everyone wants to make it.”
“I feel like doing it, but the story should lend a justification to that character. So that those who come to watch the film and hope it’ll be fun, they’re not disappointed, like they’re having that fun in my film Gadar 2,” the actor added.
Border 2 To Hit Theatres On Republic Day 2026?
Meanwhile, earlier this month, another report by Pinkvilla claimed that the makers are planning to release Border 2 on Republic Day 2026. “Border 2 is targeting to hit the big screen on Friday, January 23, 2026 – leading to the Republic Day holiday on Monday, January 26, 2026. Being a film celebrating the bravery of Indian Armed Forces, the makers feel that there is no better date than Republic Day for the arrival of this Sunny Deol and Ayushmann Khurrana film,” an insider revealed.
However, the makers of Border 2 have not officially announced the film’s release date as of now.
