It has been 12 years since filmmaker Farhan Akhtar's 'Lakshya' was released. Besides helping Farhan, who had already won plaudits for his film 'Dil Chahta Hai', to shift focus to a serious genre, shooting 'Lakshya' in Ladakh also helped the filmmaker grow as a person. The actor-director took to twitter to share his happiness and wrote, "Thank you to the most driven, resilient and passionate cast & crew I've ever worked with."

As the film turns 12, we give you a lowdown on the lesser-known facts about the film.
Hrithik Roshan wasn't the first choice of director Farhan Akhtar for Lakshya. The role was initially offered to Arjun Rampal. But since Arjun didn't have the required dates to shoot the film, the role was offered to Hrithik.
Some of the significant sequences in 'Lakshya' were shot in Ladakh at minus 8-9 degrees and at the approximate height of 17,800 feet above the sea level. Since the film was shot in mountains, transporting the shooting equipments wasn't easy.
Since the film was shot at high altitudes, actors and crew members even collapsed. The team had also stated in one of his interviews that if there were several takes for a shot that called for light running, the cast and crew had to depend on oxygen cylinders. The fight sequences of Lakshya were shot at night when the temperature would dip to -2 Celsius, -3 Celsius, -5 Celsius.
While shooting in Leh, the cast couldn't use their mobile phones. After the shoot would wrap up, everyone would use landline phones to speak to their respective families.
Even though the film had an impressive star cast, it earned below-par 230 million at the domestic box office and was declared 'Flop'.
