Meet the idol makers of Lalbaughcha Raja who have been doing this since 1935

Mumbai: Over the years, Lalbaugh Cha Raja Mandal has retained the distinct style and mould of the statue. Lalbaughcha Raja is designed by Kambli Arts and they have been making the world famous Ganpati since 1935.

The idol makers have ensured that the special creations from their workshop retain their one-of-a-kind status by getting a copyright for its quintessential style. Two years ago, the mandal also secured a global patent for the city's favourite idol, whereby no one could use the name Lalbaugcha Raja for any product, commercial venture or even create a website bearing the name.

It was Venkatesh Kambli, who designed the famous face of Lalbaughcha Raja and every year they replicate the same and the only thing that they change is the king's chair.
