According to RK Rawat, the Deputy Director of the Tourism Department, this year’s festivities will also include the lighting of lamps on the ghats and on the opposite bank of the river. A key highlight will be the Ganga Mahotsav, held at Assi Ghat in Varanasi, where famous artists like Kailash Kher, along with local performers, will entertain the crowd, adding to the cultural vibrancy of the festival.

The show promises to be a breathtaking experience, with its grandeur extending across the waves of the Ganga River. The laser display will depict the magnificence of Kashi Vishwanath and narrate the legendary story of Ganga’s arrival on Earth. This visually captivating presentation will further enhance the festival’s glory, making it a memorable part of the celebrations.
An international fire show will be a key highlight of this year’s Diwali festivities in Varanasi, taking place on the opposite bank of the Ganga. This spectacular event will serve as the main attraction of the festival, featuring eco-friendly green fireworks. The fireworks show promises to be even more colourful and vibrant than last year’s display, lasting for 15 minutes and visible from all the ghats. The Maha Aarti is another major attraction during Diwali in Varanasi, organized by the local Aarti Committee at the iconic Dashashwamedh Ghat and Rajendra Prasad Ghat. This grand spiritual event involves 21 archaks (priests) and 42 girls symbolizing Riddh-Siddhi (prosperity and spiritual powers) performing the ritual.
