After facing intense media scrutiny for his August DUI incident, BTS star Suga has been sentenced to a fine of 15 million won related to his electric scooter ride. The news, confirmed on Monday, allows the rapper to move forward without additional legal complications. Suga was indicted and fined earlier this month by the Seoul Western District Prosecutor’s Office.
The Seoul Court issued a summary order, reportedly fining him KRW 15 million (approx Rs 10 lakh) for riding an electric scooter under the influence on August 6, 2024. His blood alcohol level at the time of the incident was recorded at 0.227%, as per KoreaTimes. This fine amount aligns with the prosecution’s earlier recommendation from September 11.
For now, Min Yoongi, better known as Suga or the Daechwita rapper, has concluded his appearances at the police station and issued an apology following the charges.
Meanwhile, as the case closes, ‘Suga Stays’ Trends on social media. ARMYs quickly rallied online, with hashtags like #SugaStays, #WeLoveYouYoongi and #SuchwitaonTop trending. Earlier, rumours swirled regarding his future with BTS, his show Suchwita (where he shares drinks and has conversations with celebrities), potential fallout from luxury brand endorsements and even speculation that he might be excluded from promotional materials.

However, despite these concerns, it now seems that such worries are behind the fans.
Despite the scandal, Suga has been all over the international music charts. Fans worldwide showed their support by bringing his older tracks back into the spotlight. His song The Last from his debut mixtape, Agust D, hit a major milestone on September 4th, topping the World Digital Song Sales Chart for the first time since its release eight years ago.
Another song of his, Polar Night, also made it to the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads charts. Fans purchased both tracks in nearly equal numbers, causing them to appear side-by-side on the charts.
