Virat Kohli's 49th ODI Ton Against South Africa in ICC World Cup 2023 Inspires 'Birthday Gift' Memes

There’s only one King in the world of cricket and that is Virat Kohli. Kohli, who turned 35 on Sunday, gave himself the best birthday present he could ask for when he brought up his 49th ODI ton, equalling the great Sachin Tendulkar. Kohli did so against South Africa at a packed Eden Gardens in an ICC World Cup 2023 clash.

Kohli, who smashed his 48th ODI century against Bangladesh earlier in the tournament, reached the historic landmark in as many as 277 innings.

Batting first, openers Rohit Sharma (40) and Shubman Gill (23) provided a blistering start to India before Kohli made his way to the middle and played a watchful, level-headed game with partner Shreyas Iyer.

While Iyer slammed a stylish and invaluable 77, Kohli stuck around till the end to remain unbeaten for 101 and propel India to 300 score mark. Late fireworks by Ravindra Jadeja ensured India achieved a competitive 326/5.
