YouTube has changed its profile images on Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus with a new icon.
Recent updates to the YouTube Android and iOS apps that showed a red play icon instead of the usual YouTube logo led to speculation that YouTube was getting a new logo.
Later when YouTube changed its profile images on its Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus pages with a new icon, the news of a new logo gained more currency. Though no new logo appeared on the YouTube website.
In a response to a query from The Verge, YouTube has denied that it was opting for a new logo. "Our main logo is a core part of YouTube and is not going away. We are increasingly using our play button for apps and icons," YouTube said in a statement.
