BANGALORE: A 27-year-old youth committed suicide at his girlfriend’s house in Vivakenagar police station limits on Friday night.The deceased has been identified as Peter, a resident of Jayarajanagar. He went to his girlfriend’s house at Marathalli and consumed poison after a quarrel with her.When he was rushed to the hospital, the doctors declared him brought dead.Peter was engaged to her with whom he was in love for five years. Their marriage was also on cards. He went to see her and they started fighting over a trivial issue and he suddenly consumed poison.Dowry DeathUnable to bear the harassment for dowry by her husband and in-laws, a newly married woman ended her life by hanging at her residence.The incident was reported in Agara near Horamavu on Saturday night. The deceased, Mamata (23), had married one Subramani, an employee with a private company, in April this year.Police said Subramani and his parents harassed Mamata to bring more dowry.Mamata’s mother has filed a case of death due to dowry harassment against Subramani and his parents.2 Women DupedIn separate cases of attention diversion, two women were duped of their gold jewels.In both cases, the miscreants cheated the women on the pretext of polishing their gold ornaments.In a case reported in Subramanyapura police station limits on Saturday morning, two miscreants came to the house of Gowramma (80), in Dodda Kallasandra and made away with gold jewels worth about `1 lakh.Police said two miscreants polished silver lamps with white powder and convinced her to give her gold jewels to polish. Gowramma gave them her gold bangle and a chain. They allegedly polished it and asked her to bring some turmeric powder.They applied turmeric powder to jewels and asked her to see her ornaments after boiling them and left the scene. Gowramma did what they said and learnt that she was duped when she washed the jewels.In other case reported in Vartur police station limits, Prema (21), a housewife residing in Gunjur, was cheated similarly.Two StabbedTwo friends were stabbed by a man over an argument in J J Nagar police station limits on Saturday morning.The victims were identified as Rajesh (28) and Vijay Kumar. Rajesh went to Vijay’s house on Friday night and they went for a walk near Haleguddadahalli on Saturday morning.They met Kitti alias Krisha there and they had an argument with him which ended with Kitti stabbing the two.The duo were immediately shifted to the hospital.Rajesh is undergoing treatment while Vijay has been discharged.
