Mumbai: A woman who was set ablaze by her 22-year-old lover for refusing him money succumbed to burn injuries at a local hospital, police said. The accused auto-driver has been arrested. 25-year-old Jaispal Khan had sustained 95 per cent burn injuries and was admitted to Sion hospital on Tuesday after her enraged lover Aftab Khan poured kerosene and set her on fire at her residence in suburban Mankhurd, when she turned down his demand for money, they said.
The accused, who was absconding since the incident, was arrested from Govandi on Wednesday. He has allegedly confessed to the crime, they said, adding that he has been booked for murder.
Jaispal, a fish seller, was married to one Javed Khan seven years ago but she was not staying with her husband and was having an affair with the accused for the past four years.
