New Delhi: According to a new study Microsoft's latest desktop operating system Windows 7 has more users than its predecessor Vista in less than seven months after its release.
Windows 7 has 14.8 per cent of the OS market share, according to the 'Browser and Operating System Market Share White Paper' released by Janco Associates, a management consulting firm. The last Microsoft OS to be accepted as quickly was Windows XP.
The study also finds that in the last 12 months Microsoft's browser market share lost 3.7 per cent of the browser market; Firefox's market share has remained unchanged for the same period; and Google's Desktop and Chrome browsers are the winners with just under 5.5 per cent market share.
The top five browser market share rankings according to the study are: Microsoft's IE – 67.73 per cent; Firefox – 17.88 per cent; Google (Desktop and Chrome) – 5.40 per cent; Mozilla – 1.36 per cent; and Safari – 0.98 per cent.
