Indore Police on Saturday detained whistleblower Prashant Pandey's wife in the multi-crore Vyapam scam. Nearly a dozen police officers, including women constables barged into Pandey's wife's office and arrested her. The police said they have recovered Rs 9.96 lakh from her.

The woman was released after her statement was recorded and the case has been forwarded to the income tax department.

Pandey had claimed to possess crucial documents related to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's role in Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board scam.

Pandey said, "Madhya Pradesh Police is no less than khaki collared criminals. They illegally detained my wife from her office. How can they do this when the court has given me security?"

A Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice HL Dattu had on July 9 transferred the probe of all Vyapam cases, including the related deaths, to the Central Bureau of Investigation. At least people have died in the high profile scam.
