THRISSUR: A stream of ministers and other luminaries visited Sukumar Azhikode, who has been diagnosed with spinal cord tumour, at the Amala Medical Centre here on Sunday.Amala Institute of Medical Sciences spokesman Joseph Varghese said Azhikode’s condition is stable though the illness has hit the primary spine and the glands around the neck. “He is his usual self, witty and chatting with most of the visitors,” he said.Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan, Union Minister Vayalar Ravi, Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb, MLAs M A Baby and Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, P V Gangadharan and actor Jayaram were among the visitors.It is learnt that Defence Minister A K Antony is slated to visit Azhikode on Monday.Meanwhile, Kerala Congress (B) leader Balakrishna Pillai, who was in the town to attend a reception organised by the party local committee, did not visit Azhikode.
