Vivek Oberoi has finally arrived and with a bang. His latest action thriller Prince has nailed one board at every box office. The talented actor was desperate for a hit but none of his solo films like Naksha, Fool N Final or Mission Istaanbul managed to give the actor the much needed boost.
The release date of director Kookie Gulati’s Prince was postponed on several occasions but Vivek’s fans waited patiently. Well, the wait has been fruitful. Friday saw a board outside Gaiety Cinema in Bandra which would have made the actor extremely happy. It read ‘House Full’. He also posed with the board, a moment he will cherish for a long, long time.
Nitin Waghmare of Big Cinemas Vashi said, “We have allocated five screens for Prince. On Friday, it got a good opening. It was around 50 to 60 per cent, which is good. Hopefully, the momentum will continue throughout the weekend."
Vivek Oberoi has hit films to his credit like Company, Yuva and Omkara. But all these were multi-starrers which had him playing a pivotal role. But every actor only has one desire; to establish himself as a solo actor.
Oberoi has been very lucky. In spite of going through troubled waters in the past, he always managed to get solo films. It is a different story, that none of them really worked in his favour.
Mishra from Gaiety Cinema said, “Housefull is always a great sign for any movie. Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?was the last Hindi film which was sold out on the first day and now it's Prince. Saturday and Sunday also look very promising."
Kumar Taurani must have had immense faith on the actor for pumping in loads of money for making Prince. What makes the film expensive is the technology used for the action scenes.
This was only the Friday story of the film. By Monday, it will give a clear indication whether the film will recover the amount or not. Regardless, one thing is for sure, the Prince has finally returned.
