A video from moments after 66-year-old NCP leader Baba Siddique’s murder on Saturday night showing the arrest of one of the shooters from near the crime spot in Mumbai’s Bandra has now emerged.
Siddique was killed on Saturday outside his son Maharashtra MLA Zeeshan Siddique’s office and two of the shooters, Gurmail Baljit Singh from Haryana and Dharamraj Kashyap from Uttar Pradesh were arrested soon after.
The new video shows Kashyap being restrained by three policemen as he lifts one hand and places it behind his head. He is then asked to hand over his phone, which he does, and the officers are seen holding his hands behind his back as they escort him down a path at a park.
Police Discover Third Gun
Police have discovered another gun inside a black bag recovered near the spot where Baba Siddique was shot dead after questioning the arrested accused in custody.
Officials from the Nirmal Nagar police station found the black bag and the third gun 100 metre away from the crime spot.
According to police officials, they searched for the bag based on the inputs shared by the accused, who said they threw a bag close to the crime scene while trying to flee.
So far, police have arrested four people in the case. The arrested people include two of the three shooters- Gurmail Singh (from Haryana) and Dharamraj Kashyap (From Uttar Pradesh), and Pravin Lonkar, the key conspirators who enlisted killers in the plot.
The third shooter, Shivkumar Gautam (From Uttar Pradesh) and handler Akhtar are absconding, the police confirmed. An investigation is underway to capture the accused.
Mumbai Police on Sunday produced the two arrested accused before the court. The Esplanade Court sent both the attackers– Gurmail Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap — to police custody till October 21.
The fourth person arrested has been identified as Mohammad Jasin Akhtar from Punjab’s Jalandhar.
