New Delhi: Upmarket brand Vertu, which was formerly owned by Nokia, has finally launched its first Android smartphone - Vertu Ti. The luxury smartphone runs Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), and has a 3.7-inch WVGA display. It is priced at 7,900 euros (approx. $10,587).
The Vertu Ti sports an 8 megapixel rear camera with auto focus and twin LED flash. The phone also has a 1.3 megapixel front camera. The Vertu Ti has an internal memory of 64GB. It is powered by a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor and 1GB RAM.
Vertu had chosen Android over Windows as an operating system because it was more established, chief executive Perry Oosting told the BBC. Weighing 180g, the Vertu Ti is heavier than the Samsung Galaxy S III and the iPhone 5.
Vertu Ti is handmade from 184 parts in England by a single craftsman. Every Vertu Ti is signed by the craftsman. The casings are crafted from grade 5 Titanium, a material selected deliver strength, low weight and elegance. Vertu Ti's Titanium case is said to be around 5 times stronger than other smartphones.
The 3.7-inch sapphire crystal screen is the largest ever created by Vertu. VERTU Ti delivers symphonic sound tuned in collaboration with Bang & Olufsen and punctuated by the London Symphony Orchestra.
Vertu Ti introduces the Vertu Key for the first time - a successor to the Concierge button - providing instant access to a curated world of benefits and services and a team of people available to the customer, 24/7 wherever they may be.
