Two brothers, who were Trinamool Congress supporters, were killed when a bomb exploded in their house, at Amodpur in Birbhum district on Friday.

Sheikh Hafizul (24) and his elder brother Shiekh Tariq Hussain (27) were killed on the spot when a bomb exploded in their house in the wee hours, Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar said.

The victims' brother Jabir Hussain, who is a Trinamool Congress representative in the local gram panchayat, and other family members escaped unhurt.

The intensity of the blast was so high that a portion of the house was blown up, he said. Police are investigating the incident, Kumar said.

Hitting out at the West Bengal government, BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh said that West Bengal has become a safe haven for bomb making and anti-social elements.

"Terrorist training camps taking place there since the law-making agencies looking the other way for the sake of cheap vote bank politics. TMC government doesn't allow the police to act", he said.
