Two persons sustained injuries after a vestibule bus operated by the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) rammed a car before ploughing into a compound wall near Ambattur on Sunday night. The bus was ferrying passengers from Avadi to Tambaram.
Near Ambattur, the driver lost control of the wheel and the vehicle went straight into some stones meant to act as a road divider.
The bus then rammed a cab, operated by Fast Track, coming from Ambattur and subsequently hit the compound wall of the Dunlop factory, damaging it.
Other than the driver, there were three passengers in the cab. Police arrived soon and initiated rescue operations. The car driver and a passenger sitting on the front seat were rushed to a nearby hospital with injuries. Police said that no one else sustained major injuries in the mishap.
“Only minor injuries were reported. Only the car driver and a passenger sustained some injuries. They have been hospitalised and are out of danger,” they said.
Police suspected that a snag a in the braking system of the bus could have led to the accident.
