Subhash Ghai is back with 'Kaanchi: The Unbreakable' featuring two new actors in the lead roles

New Delhi: It has been a while since the audience watched a Subhash Ghai film. His last outing as a director was 'Yuvraaj' which inspite of having Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in the lead, failed to make a mark at the Box Office.

Five years later, Subhash Ghai is back with 'Kaanchi: The Unbreakable' which features two relatively new actors in the lead role and veteran old faces in the supporting cast.

Launching Mishti, Ghai narrates a story of a simple village girl who transforms herself to fight against injustice and the corrupt. The film features newcomer Mishti, Kartik Tiwari, Rishi Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty in pivotal roles.

While Subhash Ghai films at one point of time were huge, the society has transformed a lot over the years. Will Ghai's formula film work this time round as well? Shomini Sen of IBNLive.com is inside the theater to find that out.

1:17 PM: Stay tuned for the tweet review of #Kaanchi

1:22 PM: First few shots of the film are strikingly similar to Ghai's blockbuster Taal. #Kaanchi

1:29 PM: Why a 19 year old Kaanchi is behaving like a 10 year old and running around the hills wearing a school uniform only Ghai knows. #Kaanchi

2:02 PM: The girl can abuse without batting an eyelid but refers lovemaking as 'won woh'. #Kaanchi

2:11 PM: The editing is so patchy. Songs sequences come in the film out of nowhere. #Kaanchi

2:23 PM: In a fit of rage Kaanchi jumps across the the table to hit a police inspector and then starts throwing files on him. Wow. #Kaanchi

2:25 PM: The dialogues are so badly dubbed that it makes no sense to the scenes. What was Ghai thinking?! #Kaanchi

2:40 PM: Dialogues were clearly written after the film was shot. You can see actors saying something but they dont match with the dialogues #Kaanchi

2:50 PM: Its amazing that so many noted actors agrees to be a part of a debacle like #Kaanchi

3:01 PM: Subhash Ghai' other discovery Mahima Chaudhary makes a special appearance in a 'profound' song called Kambal Ke Neeche. #Kaanchi

3:21 PM: Just baffling as to why Rishi Kapoor, who has in the recent past re invented his career, agreed to be a part of #Kaanchi

3:27 PM: So in Subhash Ghai's world, social activists go on marches screaming 'come on India!' randomly, without any agenda as such. #Kaanchi

3:40 PM: A girl's struggle suddenly turns a national struggle where the activists who were screaming 'come one India' now sing 'jai hind' #Kaanchi

3:45 PM: The ghost of the hero, wearing all white, rises from the sea to flash the victory sign to the heroine What on earth is happening! #Kaanchi

3:47 PM:The villain twitches his face, the heroine pouts, grunts alternatively n says 'finish Karo mujhe'. viewers reflect her sentiments #Kaanchi

3:48 PM: The ghost of the hero, wearing all white, rises from the sea to flash the victory sign to the heroine What on earth is happening! #Kaanchi

3:57 PM: No story, poor editing, lack of a screenplay, shoddy direction. Subhash Ghai has clearly lost his touch. #Kaanchi

3:58 PM: Avoid #Kaanchi. Or take a bottle of aspirin along if you must watch this film.
