Tracking down Anderson, Bhopal's villain
CNN-IBN was able to track down one of the homes of Bhopal gas tragedy case accused, Warren Anderson.

New York: While eight people were convicted in the Bhopal gas tragedy case, the main accused, the Union Carbide ex-CEO Warren Anderson is still at large in the US.

US had earlier rejected calls for his extradition to Indian; however, questions are being raised as to whether the Indian government simply not push enough under US pressure.

Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily also said that the case wasn’t yet closed against Anderson.

A former CBI investigator BR Lall has told CNN-IBN that he was asked to go slow and not push for it. This was conveyed in a letter by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)

Meanwhile, CNN-IBN was able to track down one of the homes of Anderson, who is declared absconding since 1992. He now lives in New York.

The 929 Ocean Drive Bridgehampton house owned by Warren Anderson is in a posh and rich neighbourhood.

Its assessed value is $ 5 million. However, this is not his primary residence, his other residence is in Florida.

There is an outstanding warrant against Anderson in India. Indian government is unlikely to get much help from its US counterpart. State department office didn’t comment on extradition but said that the judgment should bring some closure to the victims.

Anderson was arrested in 1984 but then he left the country and never returned back and since he is 90 already, it is unlikely that he will go back to India to face justice.
