A tourism delegation from Peru, which is on a state visit, met officials from the government tourism department in Dehradun on Wednesday and discussed the possibility of collaborations between the two nations in the sector.
Delegation leader Mayor Louis said the historical and cultural heritages of India and Peru are similar and so there is a possibility of mutual assistance between the two nations in the field of tourism, said an official release.
The delegation invited Uttarakhand officials to Peru for a tourism festival to be held there in May and June, the release said.
Louis said after the delegation's visit, people from Peru would also come to Uttarakhand, which would facilitate exchange of views and culture between the two nations, it said. The delegation on Tuesday met Chief Minister Harish Rawat.
During the meeting with Rawat, Louis stressed on the need for mutual assistance between the two nations in the tourism sector, the release stated. He said the Chief Minister told him that he would direct state government officials to work with Peru for the growth of the tourism sector.
