Mumbai: TV actress Karishma Tanna feels small screen actors find it difficult to break their stereotype image and establish an identity in films.

Karishma, who has been part of TV shows like 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi', 'Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand', is playing the lead opposite Vivek Oberoi in upcoming film 'Grand Masti'.

"It is very difficult for us to establish identity in films. It is not easy to break through your stereotype image from television and form a new identity on the big screen. Although trends have changed, more and more TV actors are

trying to get into films and are even being successful," Karishma told PTI.

However, praising the reach of television, she said, "TV surely has gone beyond leaps and bounds in today's time. Television today has broadened its arms and it's the best medium to communicate with the audience."

Though she was part of 'saas bahu' shows earlier, Karishma is not willing to take it up again on small screen.

"I wouldn't deny the place which made me reach the position where I am today. If any non-fiction show comes my way I will surely take it up but no 'saas bahu' serials for now," she said.

The actress will be seen in the adult comedy film alongside Vivek, Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani. Directed by Indra Kumar, the film releases on September 6.

"I love doing comic roles and believe I am best at it. My director Indra Kumar was in search of a girl to star opposite Vivek Oberoi and on his recommendation I bagged the role. Also, the star cast of the movie is simply fantastic and it is one thing that really drew me to the film," she said.

Karishma does not find it risky to work in a multi-starrer. Rather, she believes the bigger the star cast, the better it gets.

In 'Grand Masti', a sequel to the 2004 hit 'Masti', Karishma plays Vivek's wife, who is a working woman and barely has time for her husband - who works as her subordinate in her office and this leads to an extra-marital affair.
