Jharkhand state convener Dilip Chatterjee was on Saturday arrested in a 22-year-old case of attack on the convoy of the then chief minister of unified Bihar Lalu Prasad.
Chatterjee, who earlier belonged to the JMM, had allegedly attacked Prasad's convoy together with party supporters armed with bows and arrows on October 29, 1992 at GT Road in Dhanbad district, police sources said.
Nine police officials were injured in the attack.
A warrant against Chatterjee was issued by a court on March 20.
He was arrested under sections 148 (rioting armed with deadly weapons, 307 (attempt to murder), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 511 (attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 447 (criminal trespass), 325 (causing grievous hurt) and 427 (mischief causing damage) of IPC.
He was produced in court which remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days.
