Three dead, 10 injured as lorry overturns

NELLORE: Three persons including a 10-year-old girl died in a road mishap at Attakanitippa, three kilometres from Sriharikota on Sunday evening. According to information, K Pandu (25) of Vatrapallem village in Sullurpet mandal and R Venkataramanamma (21) of Chinntareddypallem village in Nellore rural mandal got married on Sunday at Chengalamma temple in Sullurpet.They had engaged a lorry for all the guests to travel to Nellore after the marriage ceremony. The newly-married couple and their relatives started for Nellore in the truck after marriage.Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle consumed excessive alcohol while he was waiting for everyone to start from the place. After they began travelling, instead of taking the Nellore route, he took the bridge route to Sriharikota.  Even before anyone realized, he had driven till Attakanitippa, where he lost control of the truck. The vehicle, reportedly travelling at 90 kmph, overturned.Three persons including driver Zaheer from Nellore and his friend K Basha, along with a 10-year old girl Ritwika, died on the spot.  Ten others including the bride and the groom suffered injuries and were rushed to Sullurpet government hospital, where condition of three persons is said to be serious. The bride and the groom suffered minor injures and are said to be out of danger. Sriharikota in-charge SI Chengaiah registered a case.
