New Delhi: This Christmas it's Aamir Khan versus Akshay Kumar at the box office. On one hand Aamir is all set to woo the audience with romantic thriller Ghajini, which also has southern siren Asin in the lead. And then there is Akshay Kumar who will be lending his voice to India's very own Horton in Jumbo.
GHAJINI
The much-awaited Aamir Khan starrer Ghajini, with Asin and Jiah Khan in the lead is a remake of the 2005 Tamil hit of the same name. Aamir plays Sanjay Singhania, a cellular company owner, who is in love with Kalpana, played by Asin. Things take a turn for the worse when Kalpana is brutally murdered.
Sanjay himself is beaten up and as a result, suffers from anterograde amnesia which leaves him incapable of remembering anything for more than 15 minutes. Sanjay sets out to avenge his beloved's death nevertheless.
Inspired by the English film Memento and directed by A R Murugadoss the film's climax has been altered from its Tamil version.
JUMBO
After Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor lent their voices to animated feature film Roadside Romeo it is Akshay Kumar's turn along with Lara Dutta to do the honours in Jumbo.
A re-dubbed version of the 2006 Thai film Khan Kluay, Jumbo tells the story of a baby elepahnt Jaiveer who is brought up entirely by his mother because his father disappears under mysterious circumstances. But Jumbo's real adventure begins when he is separated from his mother and gets involved in the battle between the Kingdom of Shakti Nagar and the evil Bhaktavar.
Directed by Kompin Kemgumnird, in essence it is a typical Bollywwod revenge drama but with the admirable animated elephant Jumbo at the helm of affairs.
Wach out for Akshay Kumar as the voice of India's very own Horton.
