This shop is still there in Attigundi village in Karnataka, at the foothills of Mullayanagiri Peak in Chikkamagaluru district. At present, this shop is being looked after by a woman named Rameeza. Her father-in-law, Fayad Khan, was running this shop during the 1984 shooting.
Three-quarters of the film was shot in Chikmagalur district. This movie won Puneeth Rajkumar the National Award when he was 9 years old. It was also a film that brought him to the limelight. As per reports, Puneeth Rajkumar came to this shooting spot many times in his life and relieved his childhood days.
The school where Puneeth Rajkumar studied in the film Bettada Hoovu, the shop where he went to buy Ramayana books, and the school premises where he prayed are still intact today. With the passage of time, Attigundi village has turned into a commercial town as it has become a favourite place for tourists. Since it has been more than 40 years since the release of the movie, the shop has completely changed. Even today, the Fayad Khan family is somewhat proud that the film in which Puneeth acted as a child actor was shot in their shop.
Reports suggest Puneeth Rajkumar used to visit this shop whenever he came to Chikkamagaluru.
