'They have no evidence against me'
'They have no evidence against me'
In an exclusive interview to IBN, Jagat Singh denies involvement in oil-for-food scam and assails it as being based on questionable evidence.

Excerpts from the conversation:

Why do you think the Enforcement Directorate has not called you so far?

I can't say for sure why the ED has not called me as yet. But I think that since they do not have any evidence, they have no reason to call me.

The ED is examining your bank documents, what do have to say about that?

I got calls from my bank managers and they have told me that the ED has been going through my accounts. I am not objecting to it. Had they found any evidence against me, they would have called me by now.

Your friends Andaleep Sehgal and Jamal Saidi are being roped into the Volcker report investigation. What is your take on that?

Some of them are my friends and others just acquaintances. There are a lot of people in my social circle. So, I don?t think that the ED is summoning only ?my? friends. Of what I have ascertained, the ED is investigating all those people who had any kind of link with Iraq during that period. I think the ED is going into those antecedents so that they can find out what is the credibility of the Volcker report.

Jamal Saidi alleges that oil-for-food deal was finalised by Andaleep Sehgal, Asad Khan, London-based Aditya Khanna and you. How would you justify that?

Well, all I can say is that I don?t know what is the basis of his allegations. I?m sure the ED is probably going to investigate.

What's your reaction?
