The tempo stand at the entrance of Sarawathipuram is causing a lot of inconvenience for the public, especially for the girls of the nearby high school. Stationary tempos occupying most portion of the road that is fit to be a one-way. As a result  students, housewives and senior citizens find it difficult to pass through this narrow road, for many reasons. One of them being, harassment. People have complained to the traffic police asking them to ensure that the tempos are parked properly. But they say it fell on deaf ears. While the public continues to suffer, the traffic police fail to take up any action on these tempos stating that they have not received any complaint from public. “It has become difficult to pass through this road during peak hours (morning and evening). With vehicles occupying most of the space on the road, pedestrians have to struggle to walk on this road,” says Jyothi, a college student. If it is not enough, there is a bar just opposite  the tempo stand. Drunkards quarrelling with each other is a common scene here. “These drunkards have become a nuisance for women and girls. They harass the girls and women. They make nasty comments. The police needs to do something top end this menace,” says Vijaya, a housewife. The vacant space adjacent to the bar has been converted into an open toilet by the locals. A few people are using the vacant site for their cattle as well. “The site becomes slushy during monsoon. The cattle owners are not keeping the place clean either. They seldom clear the cow dung,” complains  a resident (on condition of anonymity). When contacted, the traffic police inspector refused to make any comments. According to her, no one has brought any kind of problems in the area to her notice. “We will take action if the public complains ,’’ the traffic police inspector said.Meanwhile, Gautham Kumar, the local corporator, said that he had received many complaints from the public against the tempos parked on the narrow road.  “Yes, we need to do something to end this menace. I have already discussed this matter with the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike commissioner. I have also brought this issue up with traffic police. I am sure that they will both act upon the same at the earliest,’’ he informed City Express.
