New Delhi: Aamir Khan’s directorial debut Taare Zameen Par swept the 53rd annual Filmfare awards on Saturday night.
While the movie won the Best Film Award, it got Khan the Best Director trophy as well.
That’s not all.
Amol Gupte won the award for Best Storyline for the critically and commercially acclaimed project and child actor Darsheel Safary – who was nominated in the Best Actor category – won the Critics Award as best actor.
Tabu bagged the Critics Award for best actress for her performance in Cheeni Kum.
Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Chak De! India bagged the Critics Award for best film. Chak De! also won the Best Cinematography Award.
Bollywood’s first family – the Kapoors – ruled the roost at the 53rd annual Filmfare awards Saturday night with newcomer Ranbir Kapoor bagging the best newcomer award for Saawariya and father Rishi Kapoor getting the Lifetime Achievement Award
Dimple Kapadia presented the Lifetime Achievement award to Rishi Kapoor.
Deepila Padukone of Om Shanti Om won the Fresh Face of the Year Award as well as the Best Female Debutante.
Anurag Basu’s Life in a... Metro won the Best Screenplay trophy and Kareena Kapoor-Shahid Kapur starrer romantic comedy Jab We Met won the Filmfare award for best dialogue.
Life in a…Metro couple Irrfan Khan and Konkona Sen Sharma got the best supporting actor male and female award respectively for the same film.
In the music category, Shaan won the Best Playback (Male) for Jab Se Tere Naina (Saawariya) and Shreya Ghosal won Best Playback Singer (Female) for the hummable Barso Re (Guru)
Adman Prasoon Joshi won the Filmfare for Best Lyrics for the track Maa from Taare Zameen Par. and A R Rahman was adjudged the Best Music Director for Guru.
Two special awards were also announced. While the father-son director duo Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra won the Power Awards, Monty Sharma won the R D Burman Award for Saawariya.
