Ten school children and the driver of a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) were injured on Monday when the vehicle overturned after hitting a divider at high speed, police said.

Ten school children and the driver of a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) were injured on Monday when the vehicle overturned after hitting a divider at high speed, police said.

According to the police, the incident took place in West Delhi's Khayala area at around 7:00 in the morning when the children were going to their school in Punjabi Bagh from Keshav Puram area. The children, aged between 6 to 18 years, were traveling in a Tata Safari car driven by Amandeep (19).

The driver, who was driving at a fast speed, lost control of the vehicle following which it first hit a divider and then overturned said a police official. Passersby and a police team, which reached the spot after a PCR call, rescued the children from the vehicle and they were rushed to nearby hospitals where they were treated. Some of them were discharged after first aid, he said.

Amandeep, who too was injured in the incident, has been arrested after a case of rash and negligent driving was registered against him.
