Sutil ecstatic after clocking best time
The Force India driver will start Sunday's European Grand Prix from the 10th place, his best performance of the season.

Valencia: Buoyed after securing the best qualifying performance of the season by capturing the 10th spot on the grid for Sunday's European Grand Prix, Force India driver Adrian Sutil said he knew that he would finish inside the top 10.

"The car has been working pretty well all weekend and I felt that we had a good chance to make it through to Q3 today. But I knew that we would have to get the lap just right," said Sutil after the qualifying session on Saturday.

Sutil, whose best position on grid till date was 11th at the Chinese GP, clocked 1:39.034 in Q2, slightly better than the Q1 effort of 1:39.329.

The German driver, who could not even finish his race in the previous leg in Canada, was also ecstatic as he took the maximum out of the car.

"That's why this result feels great because I got the maximum from the car. We didn't go out in Q3 because we felt it was better to save another set of soft tyres for the race," Sutil added.

The top-10 grid position gives the German driver a chance to earn some points for the team as he has managed to score only twice this season.

The 28-year-old driver is hopeful that starting from the 10th place would help him convert few points in Sunday's race.

"Also, we saw in Q2 that Heidfeld was three tenths away and that it would be difficult to improve on P10. So it's a good grid position, but the race is what counts so hopefully we can convert this into points tomorrow," he added.

Sutil's teammate Paul di Resta will start the race at the 12th spot after clocking the timing of 1:39.422 in Q2 while he managed 1:39.852 in Q1.
